About the Committee
In accordance with the guidelines of the UGC, NAAC, and the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, Government Degree College Shopian has constituted the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to ensure a safe, inclusive, and gender-sensitive campus. The committee is committed to fostering an environment free from gender inequality, sexual harassment, and any form of abuse.

Core Objectives
Grievance Redressal & Procedure
Any student, faculty, or staff member facing harassment or gender-based discrimination can approach any ICC member. Complaints can be submitted through multiple channels – complete confidentiality and support are assured.
Action Plan & Inquiry Guidelines
- Upon receiving a complaint, ICC convenes a meeting within 7 days to assess the matter.
- Complainant receives full support, protection, and confidentiality throughout the process.
- Preliminary inquiry report submitted within 7 working days from complaint receipt.
- Full enquiry to be completed within 90 days of the incident/complaint.
- Counselling support arranged for affected individuals, along with necessary legal aid if required.
- Periodic awareness campaigns, posters, and workshops on gender sensitivity and POSH Act. The ICC regularly organises seminars, street plays, and expert talks on gender equality and prevention of sexual harassment. Posters and laws are displayed across campus notice boards.

The ICC is reconstituted for the academic session 2025–2026 as per statutory norms, with representation from teaching faculty, non-teaching staff, and a student member. The committee is approved by the College Development Council.
